Jan Paul is a famous artist and owner of the Moscow Circus. His free spirit confronted the Soviet authorities when they tried to direct the shows and appoint the places where they should perform. Pavlov loved Russia. He couldn’t think of any other place where he could artistically develop however he was unable to deal with the new state regulations. He falls in love with a gypsy called Ileana and after trying to unsuccessfully deal with the authorities he decides to defect Russia. Jan and Ileana get married in Prague. They had two children, Jan Pavlickova and his sister Ema. Some years later Pavlov dies in a mysterious train accident along with his wife and daughter.
